  It is the best art gallery in Spain and one of the most important in the world. It celebrated its bicentennial in 2019.  Its collection focuses mainly on paintings from the 16th to the 19th century and includes masterpieces by painters such as Velázquez, El Greco, Goya, Rubens and El Bosco.
