ComparaBUS

Megabus : bus company in United Kingdom

  • Megabus is an intercity bus service provider currently operated by Stagecoach Group and started its operation in August 2003. The bus network initially started running their activities in the United Kingdom and later expanded to Europe. The company is notable for offering cheap bus travel services between different cities with an affordable and incredible price with bus trips around Europe starting at as little as £1.

  • Unlike other bus companies, that mostly operate bus trips commencing at the traditional bus stations, Megabus has taken another step of serving curbside bus stops into practice. It merely means that travelers are not forced to wait for long hours at crowded bus stations, and they can easily board buses at quiet bus stops that are mostly served by Megabus vehicles.

  • On 4th August 2003, bus services from London to Oxford started, and other destinations like Glasgow to Dundee and Edinburgh to Glasgow were added a month later. On March 27th, 2006, there were some changes made to the bus routes with a direct service introduced between Ferrytol l Park and Ride in Fife.

  • Megabus Bus Company introduced sleeper services on the London to Glasgow route in 2011 with Luxury Megabus Gold coaches introduced between London and Edinburgh/Aberdeen from 8th July 2013. However, the service came to an end in May 2017 because it consistently made losses and the coaches are currently explicitly used for daytime services. The primary routes operated by Megabus Bus company include; Manchester to London, Birmingham to London, London to Glasgow and Glasgow to Edinburgh.
